CA-20014 Special Teams
The Special Teams at Lancaster High School's Air Force Junior ROTC program are the example of excellence and dedication at CA-20014. The teams consist of a Color Guard Team, which forms details to present and post the colors at numerous community and school events throughout the year; the Armed Drill Team, which performs military precision drill with M-1 Garand Rifles. The cadets practice for one hour every school day morning from 0620 Hrs. to 0720 Hrs, during a special period of the day called a "zero period". Zero Period takes place before all regularly scheduled classes. This group of exemplary cadet teams is lead by C/CMSGT. Montgomery.
The Color Guard
The Color Guard is lead by the Color Guard Commander, C/Han and the Cadet Deputy Commander, C/ Saliams They are frequently in the public eye. The team consists of a group of cadets who make up smaller color guard details, or teams. These individual teams then are called upon performing special tasks in the community such as posting or presenting the United States and California Flags, the colors. Presentations may occur at events such as school sports games, public festivities, and awards ceremonies. The Color Guard also participates in local and regional drill competitions where two details are formed consisting of the cadets who have shown competency in this duty.
The Armed Drill Team
The Armed Drill Team of the CA-20014 cadet wing is fine example of how a military precision drill unit should be conducted. The team is commanded by the Armed Drill Team Commander, C/CAPT. Trujilloo.The team consists of a select few who have shown an outstanding amount of proficiency in the art of armed drill. The team, consisting of 10 cadets, including the commander, devotes their mornings to practicing every aspect of competition to further improve their chances to achieve victory. Competition consists of an Inspection Phase, in which cadets are tested on their knowledge of various subjects relating to the military and current events; a Regulation Phase, in which the team is judged on their proper execution of basic Drill and Ceremonies commands; and an Exhibition Phase, in which the team performs a unique and entertaining routine consisting of special moves with the 9.6 lbs. rifle. |
