Mrs. Cheryl Holt  

ALC Teacher

Mrs. Holt is a 1975 graduate of Monrovia High School in Monrovia Ca. She attended California State University, Long Beach where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts. Mrs. Holt has taught in the Antelope Valley High School district for the past twenty years as Art teacher, Curriculum Specialist, Department chair and Lead teacher for the Independent Study program.

Mrs. Katie Farnes

Originally from Wisconsin, Mrs. Farnes lived in Pennsylvania and Kansas before moving to California.  Mrs. Farnes attended Granada Hills High School in Granada Hills, CA, and graduated in 1978.  After finishing high school she attended Pierce College pursuing a degree as a legal secretary.  Mrs. Farnes was employed as a secretary in two law firms before she was hired by the district in 1991.  She worked at Antelope Valley, Littlerock, and Palmdale High Schools before transferring to the Lancaster High School Alternative Learning Center in 1998.

Mrs. Farnes serves as the Clerk of the Independent Study program.  In that capacity she is in charge of all student records, including grades and transcripts, and she maintains the official cumulative files of all Independent Study students.

Mrs. Tamera Baker

Learning Center Technician

Mrs. Tamera Baker graduated from Palmdale High School. She was employed as a Photo Lab Technician and a Professional Photographer while completing an Associates of Arts in Computer Graphics from Antelope Valley College. After five-years of working as a Graphic Artist and Electronic Prepress Operator, working with such clients as Lockheed Martin, EAFB, Palmdale Water District, City of Lancaster, and Antelope Valley College, Mrs. Baker was hired to AVUHSD in 2003.
