Directions:

  1. 1.      Write down only the assignments that you have received back from Mr. Hayhurst with a grade on them.

  2. 2.      When you get a paper back it will have two numbers on it. The top number is your points received the bottom number is the points possible.

  3. 3.      Write down the points you received on the assignment in the column under "Points Received."

  4. 4.      Write down the bottom number down under the "Points Possible" heading.

  5. 5.      The "Total Received" is a 'running total,' which means that you are continually keeping track of the total points that you have received thus far in this column. Add up your points received column and write the total in this column.

  6. 6.      The "Total Possible" column is also a 'running total' but this one is of the total points possible. Add up the points possible column and write the total in this column.

  7. 7.      To get the "Grade in %" you simply divide the "Points Possible" by the "Total Possible." If you are using a calculator you type in the "Points Possible" then hit the ¸ key, then type in the "Total Possible" then hit the = key. Once you have that number it will be in a decimal form. Multiply that number by 100 to get a %. Write down the % in the "Grade in %" column.

Ready to give it a try? If you have Microsoft Excel 97 or later you can click here to download the electronic grade sheet. You may print this out and keep it in your notebook as your grade sheet.
