| Earth Products Inc. has
a long standing reputation for successfully containing many contaminated
sites in the country.
Because our company wants to remediate your problem
in a timely manner, all of the permits and regulatory aspects of beginning
the containment have already met EPA approval.
Containment is a reliable, fast solution to soil and
groundwater contamination requiring land permits from the local and state
authorities.
Containment consists of two steps: an impenetratable
liner is placed over the site, this is called capping. Next, a clay
barrier is installed across the flow of the water to block the movement.
This barrier is keyed into the bedrock to prevent seepage beneath the barrier.
Typically, this entire process can be completed in
nine months because the technology and materials for the clean up are
readily available.
The cost of containment depends on several factors
such as; length of the clay barrier and optional water removal. The usual
cost for a containment wall is $7 per square foot.
Water removal and further cleaning of the water can
be added as follows: $.25/1000 gallons of water for removal only and
$3/1000 gallons for cleaning and replacing the contaminated water.
The EPA recognizes containment as a safe and viable
method to remediate a contaminated area. Since there is no transportation
involved, the safety of the community is not an issue.
Careful monitoring of the site will continue for
five years after installation. Monitoring beyond this time must be
contracted. |
