  1. Read the procedure carefully! 
  2. Clean the stirring stick after each use. 
  3. Follow all safety rules for our Lab! 
  4. Leave the lab station exactly as you found it!

Fruitvale Packet Reminders

(Packet is worth 200 points)

  1. Stay organized.
  2. Use loose-leaf paper.
  3. Complete all work in pencil.
  4. Make-up any lab you miss. Get info from the teacher and/or your partner.
  5. Prepare a creative cover for the packet.
  6. Make sure all work turned in is neat, complete, and legible (preferably typed).
  7. Packet must have a Table of contents.
  8. Must have a glossary in alphabetical order at the end of the booklet.
  9. All lab activities must follow the scientific method outline format.

Scientific Method Outline Format

TITLE (of the page or project)

QUESTION OR PROBLEM (this is what you are trying to solve, always in the form of a question)

BACKGROUND INFORMATION (list what you already know or what you have found out by doing some simple research or observations, there could be questions that you have to find out the answer to listed here along with the correct answer)

HYPOTHESIS (possible answer to your question based upon your initial observation)

EXPERIMENT (there are three parts to this)

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT (make a list of the materials you will use in the experiment)

PROCEDURE (list every step of your experiment as if you were explaining it to a fourth grader)

DATA and RESULTS (this is where you list the results of your experiment, it is also where you would give any quantitative and qualitative measures)

CONCLUSIONS (a brief summary of what happened in the experiment and what it proved, it should start off by stating that your hypothesis was correct/incorrect and why)

RELATED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS (your teacher will generally give you some follow up questions, this is where you would list those questions and their answers)
